The meaning of Obsidian…
"Obsidian" is a dark-coloured glassy volcanic rock, chemically similar to granite (most commonly black in colour) formed by rapid cooling of lava. It is known for its excellent protective properties in the crystal and gemstone world. The name was used in Sci-Fi programmes 'Blakes7' and 'StarTrek' where the Cardasian security force was known as the 'Obsidian Order'. It was formed into arrow heads (as our logo) and other cutting tools by early man. Still currently in use in cardiac surgery as well-crafted obsidian scalpel blades have a cutting edge many times sharper than high-quality steel.
